The Harrisburg Area Contra Dance Association (HACDA), hosts dances on the 2nd Friday of every month. Contra dancing is a lively, high-energy folk dance that is easy to learn and deeply social. Dancers form long parallel lines (facing a partner) and progress up and down the hall, pairing up with neighbor couples to execute simple figures prompted by a live caller.

New to Contra?
New to Contra?
No problem! We are welcoming to newcomers and are very friendly and helpful. Also, if you give us a try for the first time, you can get in to your 2nd dance for free!
Some tips for new dancers:
Be ready by 7:30 PM to attend the lesson on your first dance!
A partner is not required - we dance with many different people throughout the evening.
Ask experienced dancers to dance initially, even if you brought a fellow new partner.

It takes volunteers to plan and run these events. If you're a regular dancer, consider providing your time to volunteer at one or more of these events. It’s an opportunity to make new acquaintances and renew old friendships.
